Full-process exterior system development for an EV model covering 14 subsystems

We coordinated the full-process exterior system development for an EV model, covering 14 major subsystems including bumpers, grille, fenders, hood, rocker panels and wheel arches. The project established a unified exterior DTS (gap/flushness) standard and feasibility-analysis system, aligning styling, engineering and manufacturing to jointly improve appearance quality and development efficiency.

--- Project Highlights ---
1. Exterior system integration: We coordinated interface definitions and assembly relationships for 14 exterior subsystems (bumpers/grille/fenders/hood etc.), establishing system-level geometric and process boundaries to avoid interference between sub-parts and out-of-control accumulated tolerances.
2. DTS standard & gap/flushness control: We defined the vehicle exterior DTS (gap/flushness) corporate standard, specifying tolerance bands and perceived-quality targets for each matching surface, greatly reducing the dispersion of exterior refinement.
3. Design-for-Manufacture (DFM) analysis: Engaging in styling feasibility review from the concept stage, through section pre-layout and draft analysis we identified high-risk styling features early and guided optimization, shortening later design-change cycles.
4. Manufacturing synergy & production assurance: Working with stamping, injection and painting process teams on simultaneous engineering (SE), we ensured high yield and low manufacturing cost for exterior parts under stringent dimensional requirements.
