Commercial Vehicle Cab Interior System Development
Full-dimension interior development for a North Benz commercial vehicle cab
We led the full-dimension interior development and design of a North Benz commercial vehicle cab. Covering the main IP, center console, door panels and headliner, the project optimized storage space and assembly process for the high-intensity usage conditions and ergonomic needs specific to commercial vehicles, balancing stringent durability standards with ride comfort.
--- Project Highlights ---
1. Full-dimension interior development: Covering the cab’s core interior parts such as main/sub IP, door panels, headliner and pillar trims, establishing a unified design language and family features to improve interior/exterior quality consistency.
2. Ergonomics & storage optimization: Combined with long-haul trucking scenarios, we re-planned storage in the center console and sleeper areas, optimized switch and control layouts to reduce driver fatigue and improve usability.
3. Stringent durability & lightweighting: Addressing the high-frequency, heavy-load nature of commercial use, we reinforced clips, hinges and mounting structures and achieved per-part weight reduction through material substitution, balancing durability and cost.
4. Process adaptation & manufacturability: Collaborating with suppliers on tooling and welding process reviews, we optimized parting lines and draft angles to ensure dimensional stability and appearance quality under low-cost manufacturing.
