External Active Grille Shutter (AGS) development and design

We developed an external active grille shutter (AGS) assembly using a front-bumper externally-mounted layout, enabling quick porting across different vehicle platforms. Through a modular frame and standardized actuator interface, the project achieved low-cost cross-vehicle reuse.

1. Externally-mounted quick porting: Adopting a module mounted independently of the grille body, it adapts to various front-bumper styles, greatly shortening new-model introduction cycles and improving development reuse rate.
2. Modular frame & standard interface: Defining unified frame dimensions and actuator electrical/mechanical interfaces enables core parts such as blades and motors to be directly interchangeable across projects, reducing supply-chain complexity.
3. Open/close strategy & calibration: Based on vehicle thermal-management and drag targets, we built a blade-angle MAP and supported on-vehicle calibration to balance warm-up speed with high-speed energy consumption.
4. Environmental adaptation & reliability: Conducting water-spray, stone-impact and temperature-cycle tests verified the external module’s connection reliability and sealing durability under complex conditions.
